Certainly, there are numerous upsides to electronics. Many children forge friendships while playing interactive games. Shy children may find it easier to text acquaintances than to talk on the phone. You can talk to a person sitting 1000 miles away through skype & video calls. Still, the irony is undeniable. “These children will be the most connected generation in history, but they may not know how to talk to someone standing right next to them.
The most important factor in gaining influence and achieving success is developing people skills. Yet, nowhere in the formal education system — from kindergarten through college — are people skills taught, even though nearly all of us use our people skills every day.

Sleep is the process in which humans and other animals periodically rest, with greater or lesser degrees of unconsciousness and decreased responsiveness to the surrounding world. People are now sleeping less than they did in the past, and sleep quality has decreased as well. When we sleep, our bodies rest – conserving energy and decreasing blood pressure, heart rate, breathing and body temperature. At the same time, our brains remain active – laying down memory, restoring daytime mental functioning and carrying out processes that lead to physical growth.

Parenting is an art learn with “our brain our life”:
Scolding and pampering your child should go in hand in hand. Over pampering or over scolding might affect your child badly, so parents should always know that when to scold or when to pamper. In this articles we should focus on the impact of scolding:
How much should one scold the child? When does scolding become excessive? Most parents think that scolding is the right way to correct the wayward behavior. We must remember that children are quite different from adults .Children are the great imitator ,for example if you shout at them ,they will shout back, therefore unnecessary scolding will do more harm than benefits. Now what is the right way to tackle this issue?
Be aware of the consequences of scolding:
Scolding your child harshly can hurt him beyond the comprehension. Every child has his own emotions, some express them while other don’t .Understand your child and his sensitiveness.
Avoid Over reacting:
Over reacting is very common and natural with the parents . If child is not behaving properly or not performing well in studies parents over react ,rather they should understand the child capabilities or should put efforts to know what exactly is the problem and then try to find the solution of that problem.
Be communicative:
Always communicate with your child positive manner. Over scolding or yelling at child can cause him /her to withdraw the parents .Child start hiding their emotions, problems from the parents .That can cause a big problem in future

Workshop for Parents

Our Brain Our Life has organized a workshop in Vishwa Bharti School on the topic “our mind our life” for parents .We would like to thank the Principle of the School & Mrs. Manju Yadav for inviting Our Brain Our Life for this workshop. We would also like to thank parents for understanding the need of counseling for Good parenting and to understand their wards better .The counselor conducted a small exercise to demonstrate the power of mind & thoughts with parents.

Parents problems & approach towards handling the child

:
1.#Aggression
Nowadays most of the kids are found Aggressive .
Parents action: Parent should make sure that you do not respond to their aggression with aggressiveness. This is just the opposite of traditional parenting. Calm your child down and talk about alternatives and reason behind their aggression.
2. #Tantrum Throwing
Even though Tantrum are normal and very common, handling them is a big challenge for parents.
Parent action: When a child throws tantrum, she just needs empathy and a loving presence. Tantrums subside as the brain matures.
3. Back Talk
Back talk directly relates to disrespect and this is what hurts and disturbs parent.
Parent action : Instead of quickly shutting down the conversation, you can use this opportunity to teach your child how to talk respectfully. Encourage positive communication .
4. Not Listening
Getting children to pay attention to what you want to say is one of the biggest challenge parents.
Parent action :Try to have a strong bond with your child. Spend time and instead of giving orders.
5. Applying Effective #Discipline
Disciplining is often misunderstood with punishment.
Parent action : spend time with their kids so that they understand them in better way.
6. #Sleep
Kids of today are deprived of sleep and this is hampering their physical and mental health which is a matter of concern for most parents.
Parent action : Parents need to push your kids and find out what works because getting proper rest at night is very important .
7. #Internet
The immersion of kids in internet is huge. The risks are huge as well.
Parent action : Parent should use a filter considering the age, negotiate content, monitor and supervise. Talk to your kids well.
8. Early #Sexualisation
Children are getting involved in sex much before they are emotionally or intellectually able to handle it.
Parent action : Parents should make sure that they educate their children .

We all know that parenting these days is not a cake walk .Its required great efforts and challenge to raise a child equipped good moral value ,socially accepted behavior without any kind of addictions-Drugs, alcohol, mobile, internet etc . A study show that 90% of a child’s permanent foundation for brain development occurs in the early years according to Rauch Foundation. An overuse of gadgets can only stunt this growth and cause a negative impact on the child’s overall development.
If your child is spending more time swiping and scrolling, instead of interaction with the real world, you need to act before it’s too late.
