Be a Supportive Person

We all have come across the situation in life when our loved ones –family member, friends, peers, colleague needs a kind support because they are going through a tough phase in life.

If you want to be supportive (and not make matters worse), what are the right words to say to someone who has experienced a relationship break-up, for instance, or lost their job?, problems in married  life?

Should you express sympathy, downplay the situation, say you know how they feel, or something else entirely? This thought will always confuse us and sometimes bring a situation in life, we are unable to give the right advise or help them.

We always look for a “magic statements that, if spoken, would provide lasting comfort to the recipient”. But do we really have a magical words or statements which actually relief our loved ones from their pain & grief situation.

Whenever our relative or friend faces any kind of trouble in the life we should stand with them like a pillar. Below mentioned are the few  ways we can help them.

  1. Listen them completely, let them speak whatever they want to speak.
  2. Talk positive
  3. Give them some good example to deal with the problem.
  4. Help them to find the solution.
  5. Get expert-Counselor (psychologist),life coach – advice if the problem is non –trivial
  6. Do not judge.
